Participants at the launch of eCitizen 2.0 – an InterReg IV project – had the chance to join the WAVE for themselves in Tampere Finland this week. (February 15-19) eCitizen 2.0 is designed to spread knowledge about eParticipation tools and good practice across Europe. Participants come from all four regions in Europe – North, South, East and West – and include civil servants from Greece, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, UK, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Estonia and Finland. Members of the WAVE team used the project to help introduce eCitizen partners to the latest developments in eParticipation and social media. For many partners, WAVE was their first hands-on experience with an eParticipation tool. Throughout the 3 day launch, partners were asked to experience eParticipation first-hand by joining the WAVE and making sure that their voices are heard on climate change. Partners had the chance to better understand the concept of argument visualization by testing the Debategraph Map and to help improve the tool by contributing to the evaluation. At the end of the launch, many partners expressed a desire to stay connected with the project, and to join any potential WAVE 2.0 initiatives! eCitizen 2.0 will continue to feature updates and developments from WAVE in all future project meetings, and to make sure the participation message is spread across all four corners of Europe.
