The WAVE (Welcoming Argument Visualisation to Europe) Project (www.wave project.eu) was represented by Daniel Van Lerberghe, President & Executive Director of Politech Institute (European Center of Political Technologies) at the MOMENTUM’s 3rd Concertation Meeting which took place at the Athens Electra Palace Hotel (Greece) on the 22nd October, 2009.

The main aim of the MOMENTUM Project (www.ep-momentum.eu) is to monitor existing eParticipation projects co-funded by the European Commission, such as WAVE, in order to consolidate their results, provide feedback to them and to facilitate exchange of information between projects and relevant bodies of the European Commission.

The meeting was also attended by representatives of the European Commission. The combination of the setting with the enthusiasm created an environment of frank and open dialogue where various viewpoints were presented and valuable information was shared between different partners and projects.

During the event, WAVE has developed more close cooperation with two other eParticipation projects, namely with eMPOWER (www.ep-empower.eu) and VIDI (www.vidi-project.eu). eMPOWER motivates and strengthens the involvement of various stakeholders in the decision-making processes on environmental issues. Having a topical commonality with WAVE, the two projects will work together to exchange information and events on environmental issues. VIDI is a project which works on innovative technological solution of Text Mining, which enables to extract valuable information from linguistic and statistic analysis of text documents and discussions that in turn enables to extract extensive sentiment-based analyses of the discussions called Opinion Mining. Due to the fact that WAVE project uses an argument visualisation tool (Debategraph) for valuable discussion on environmental issues, VIDI and WAVE can potentially collaborate on ways of visually representing user comments on online discussions.
